2019 MISSION SEASON
"Ask me, and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come." - Jeremiah 33:3 NLT
You as a Christ-follower have been given the commission to "go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" (Matt. 28:19 NLT). Yet where to begin? How to navigate the cultures around you - especially when your own seems to be changing faster than you can keep up?
At New Work, we believe not only in engaging the future, but in creating it. The trips we are engaged in are meant not only to draw you into the kingdom work God is doing across the globe through remarkable individuals and communities, but to stretch and prepare you for the culture that is to come. Our beloved Hopkinsville is changing - and that's a good thing. Go out into the world and let God shape your horizons so that when you come home, you too can create the future you long to see - a world where everyone knows and trusts in the name of Jesus.
These trips are broken down between their respective points in time relative to our home: Past, Present and Future. Click on one to explore what opportunities for service New Work is engaged in this year, and how you can be a part of that good work.
Never doubt the voice and the story that God has given you. Your life matters. Someone somewhere is waiting to hear the Gospel shared through your voice. Step into the moment God is providing you today.
TIME TRAVEL
Choose your context.
Past, present and future are not just descriptors; they are realities that are alive and active in the world around us. We feel it most when we step outside of our context (Present) and into someone else's (Past/Future).
Right now, someone somewhere is spear-fishing and looking to build a fire to survive the night.
Right now, technologies exist somewhere that would surpass our wildest imagination.
To those who live in these places, this is normal. To us, it is like traveling back or forward in time.
Why is this important? Because how you understand these contexts informs your outreach. How you understand your own informs how you live. Sometimes you have to leave home in order to find it again. Let God shake your world through the kingdom work He is doing in these corners of the world:
BRIDGING THE DIVIDE
Cross-cultural studies at New Work Fellowship
The world is more connected now than ever before. Urban and rural areas are increasingly becoming cultural melting pots, and an understanding of how to engage with and build relationships in each culture is crucial for the local church to remain authentic in its outreach and true to its message. Try one of our cross-cultural courses here at New Work. Dive into a worldview that is not your own, and learn to build compassion for peoples across all national, ethnic and cultural divides:
